New Century Players embodies the true sense of the term ‘Community Theater’. A group of passionate volunteers, 100% dedicated to bringing professional-quality live theater to the greater Milwaukie/ Oregon City area. Founded in 2004 in direct response to the lack of opportunities for theater lovers in our area, NCP continues to thrive on one common goal – a drive to provide our community with a theatrical experience of the same caliber as any professional theatre without leaving their own back yard. Over the past 5 years we have been fortunate enough to perform a huge variety of shows ranging from the comedic to the macabre, from murder mysteries to full scale musicals.

In these times of uncertainty where even the most established professional theaters are closing their doors, we have managed to continue the journey, and each year brings us new audience members and new opportunities to showcase our productions to the community.  As we gather momentum, NCP becomes more ambitious in our undertakings as we continue to build on our successes as ‘the little company that could’.

In July 2007, New Century was awarded the lease of the historic Bertman House as our company office/ HQ by the City of Milwaukie. The house, located at SE 37th and Washington next door to the Milwaukie Museum had been empty for a number of years. In exchange for minimal rent, NCP committed to an ambitious 5 year renovation project funded solely by us totaling an estimated $50,000 to a neighborhood building that would otherwise continue to fall in to disrepair.

Our mission is simple. To bring professional-quality live theater to our community. To us, theater is not just a group of actors reciting a playwright’s words, and a live performance is so much more than just an evening out. It broadens minds, builds bridges and lifts spirits. It can inspire, motivate and exhilarate like no other form of entertainment, but most importantly to us, it is a vital part of our community.
